Mack Wilder for N.C. House District 74.

From 1980 to 1984 I served honorably in the United States Marine Corps. Too young for Vietnam and too old for Iraq, I consider myself fortunate. My generation was the first all-volunteer force in the post-Vietnam era. I will be a staunch defender of veterans’ issues both active and inactive. Our returning veterans deserve and must have our unwavering support. I will not cut corners on supporting our veterans. Semper Fidelis is Latin for “always faithful”. I do not take that lightly and I extend the “always faithful” to all branches of our military.

Making Our Schools Safe Will Be One of My Top Priorities.

I support raising the salaries of law enforcement to attract enough qualified officers to fill vacancies we have and add enough to assign two to every school.

We need to raise the wages of school bus drivers and custodians.

We need to raise the funds needed to pay teachers a salary that equals the responsibility they have From exposure to Covid, teaching our children the academics they need to be productive citizens and all to often being the last line of defense in a active shooter situation.

Protecting Women's Right to Reproductive Freedom

As an advocate for women's rights, I strongly believe in protecting a woman's right to reproductive freedom. Reproductive autonomy is a fundamental human right, and every woman deserves the ability to make decisions about her own body and reproductive health without interference or judgment from others.
It is essential that we ensure women have the tools and knowledge to make informed choices about their reproductive lives, free from societal stigma or restrictive legislation.

Additionally, the right to safe and legal abortion services must be protected. Every woman facing an unplanned pregnancy must have the freedom to consult with her doctor and make the best decision for herself, without unnecessary barriers or judgment. It is not for lawmakers or society to dictate personal choices regarding reproduction. We must trust women to make decisions that are in their best interest, in consultation with their healthcare providers and loved ones.

Defending Democracy at Every Turn.

Most importantly I will work with others to strengthen existing laws or write new ones to keep our democracy safe.

I believe we should make voting easier not harder. More inclusive less exclusive. The more that participate in the process the better off we all are.
